Hydrophilic gold nanorods for biotechnological applications

Gold nanorods (AuNRs) are successfully employed in drug delivery, biosensors, and biotechnologies. Their wide success is due to their unique chemical properties, biocompatibility, easy, cheap versatile synthesis. In this framework, AuNRs were synthetized with the aim obtain strongly hydrophilic nanomaterials, suitable as delivery system. by seed mediated methods two steps. After careful purification investigated means of UV-Vis-NIR showing typical surface plasmon resonance (SPR) bands at 550 nm 970 nm. The Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) High-resolution X-ray photoelectron (HR-XPS) investigations verified functionalization ascorbic acid (AA) cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) allowed examine structure interaction between capping agent metal surface. Moreover, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) observations showed regular shape size range 20-80 These results point promising systems for applications.
